Sunday 11th June 2006
We still didn't manage to win first prize for our float at the Abridge Carnival this year - but in our opinion ours was definitely the best! On the hottest day of the year so far, it looked really colourful covered in the fans that the children had made - with special thanks to all the mums and dads who tied and stapled tirelessly in the sun to help get everything ready for the procession
We performed in the main marquee during the afternoon to huge appreciation from the large audience. The children danced Fandangos de Huelva, Tangos and Bulerias, and showed off their fans during a short piece of Solea. The performance from the adult students included Sevillanas, Tangos, Fandangos, Bulerias and Alegrias

Another excellent night at Wanstead House on Friday 14th July, with lovely weather to add to the heat of the occasion!
It was very good for us to be able to welcome Juana together with some of her pupils and their dancing was inspirational, as was the the guitar playing of Diego Roque who joined us at the Pena for the first time. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and particularly to Catherine for a lovely solo Solea por Bulerias

Despite the cold, the "Flames and Fire" production of Kathak / Flamenco fusion kept things warm at the Lamplight Arts Centre in County Durham
There are many musical and rhythmic links between these Indian and Spanish dance forms and Khatak is thought by many to be the root of Flamenco
